Been noticing that a lot of horse poo that I have seen lately seems rather firm. Not that I spend a lot of time looking at horse poo.
Considering that it has been cold and wet recently, this may or may not be a surprise to some. The grass has stopped growing and horses are relying on hay to obtain the roughage they need. But that means that they should also be drinking more to supplement their fluids.
Not normally a great concern, but something to keep an eye on, as you don’t want your horses to colic. Especially with some of the more mature horses that could already be struggling a bit. You may need to find a way to add some water to their food.
