Managed to ride Friday night without getting wet, or at least until I had to
feed the horses anyway. Occy was working well except for not being quite
supple enough really, counter bend was a struggle. But he was over tracking
evenly and was three beat in the canter. The weekend before we did do some
baby jumps and went for a canter out and he seemed to cope fine. Saturday we did a Cross-country clinic with Will Enzinger at Tooradin which
went very well apart from one moment where we had a stop at the Wishing
Well. Oh and there was a "what the" moment at the ditch but he jumped it.
But Occy was generally forward and for the first time ever we cantered into
and through a water without a single trot step. The test for his soundness came today at club rally doing flatwork in the
morning. There was no sign of the previous days jumping efforts having any
bad effects. Occy was forward and even. Counter bend is still a bit of a
struggle though L something to work on. We were going to show jump in the
afternoon, but the plug was pulled on the rally unfortunately, so will have
to try to get some training in somehow else.
